Scheme Overview & Benefits
Under the National Mission on Edible Oils - Oil Palm (NMEO-OP), the Department of Horticulture, Gujarat provides dedicated financial assistance to support farmers during the critical 4-year gestation period before oil palm trees reach commercial fruit-bearing age. The scheme grants assistance of up to ₹21,000 per hectare spread across 4 years (₹5,250 per hectare per year) to cover plantation maintenance expenses and input costs for growing profitable intercrops (such as pulses, groundnut, vegetables, and fodder) in the vacant interspaces between palm rows. This financial assistance provides continuous cash flow and ensures orchard health until peak palm productivity.
